The neighborhood of Trousdale Estates is known for its amazing views and iconic Hollywood History. Trousdale first built 532 original lots, all subject to strict regulations devised by the Architectural Committee, including how high roofs could be. Originally, Trousdale Estates is reported to have started from 425 acres and overall it is now a somewhat narrow parcel of land. The homes in Trousdale area were largely built in the 1960s, the community is made up primarily of one-story, mid-century modern homes by architects like Richard Neutra, Wallace Neff, A. Quincy Jones and others who brought clean lines of modern living to Trousdale Estates. By 1981, some houses were remodeled, blocking their neighbors' views.
As a result, after some consultation in 1987 the Trousdale Estates Homeowners Association, a non-profit organization, and the city of Beverly Hills implemented the Trousdale Ordinance to preserve the neighborhood.
